Martin Scorsese is my favorite Hollywood director. Although he has directed such great movies as “Taxi Driver” (1976), “Raging Bull” (1980), “The Last Temptation of Christ” (1988), “Casino” (1995), and “Gangs of New York” (2002), he has never won an Oscar for Best Director. Last week I went to the cinema to watch his last movie called “The Departed”. It’s a long movie (150 minutes) but so attractive that I didn’t realize how 2 hours and a half elapsed.
After watching “The Aviator” (2004) I thought that Scorsese might have decided not to make Mafia/gangster movies anymore; in fact “The Aviator” has been said to “lack Scorsese’s directional distinct signature”. During watching “The Departed”, you can clearly recognize that “distinct signature” again.
